Splendid proof with good contrasts, in the third edition from the original woodcuts. Printed on Japan paper, in excellent condition, with clean edges all around beyond the marginal line.

In the distance the eight peak volcanic range, Yatsugatake, about 50 miles NW of Fuji. Alternation of jagged peaks, eroded by the action of the wind in contrast both with the purity of the lines of Fuji and with the flowing undulation of the waters below. 

Judging by the resemblance of the line of mountains to that drawn in the plate titled Shinshu Suwako , Lake Suwa in Shinano Province, from the Thirty-six Views of Fuji series, it could be the same lake.

However, considering the tumultuous waters, which do not suit the calm surface of a lake, Suzuki hypothesizes that it is the nearby Chikuma River.

The drawing of the undulating movement of the water can also be found in a table by Mangwa IX (1819).
